The Secretariat of the Government of Agroindustry of the Nation reported that the Kazakhstan market has been opened for semen and embryos of Argentine cattle based on efforts initiated in March of this year by officials of this portfolio.

The announcement was made during the working mission to Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan, led by the presidents of the National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (Senasa), Ricardo Negri, and the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA), Juan Balbín.

Earlier this year, veterinary certificates were signed in Buenos Aires to import live cattle into Kazakhstan. Agreement to export live cattle from Argentina to Kazakhstan.

On this occasion, in Nur Sultan (the new capital of this Asian country), Senasa and officials from the Argentine Embassy in Russia agreed with the Kazakh health authorities on certificates for the export of bull semen and embryos of large cattle.

In addition, INTA President Juan Balbín signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Agrarian Scientific-Educational Center (NASEC) of Kazakhstan, which opens opportunities for cooperation between both countries in various areas related to the agroindustry, from training and capacity building in innovation and research to the development of projects of joint interest for the incorporation of new technologies related to agriculture.

In this regard, one of the topics of interest to INTA in providing cooperation to Kazakhstan and which could be developed under the umbrella of the recently signed MOU, is gene editing.
