The Argentine Government has made official the first inventory of glaciers, through Resolution 358/2018, released this Monday (11.6.2018).
This is a fundamental tool for identifying all glaciers and periglacial landforms that act as water reserves in the national territory, with all the information necessary for their adequate protection, control and monitoring.
According to the ruleThe task was carried out by the Argentine Institute of Novoscience, Glaciology and Environmental Sciences (IANIGLA), with the coordination of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, in its capacity as national authority for the application of Law 26.639,

Consequently, the inventory satisfies a essential legal requirement for environmental conservation and constitutes an essential document for monitoring climate change.
