Argentina negotiates to deepen trade with Peru

-

The Argentine and Peruvian governments have begun a round of negotiations to expand the economic complementarity agreement that governs both countries, authorities said.

"We inaugurated the First Round of Trade Negotiations to expand and deepen trade with Peru," said the Secretary of International Economic Relations, Horacio Reyser, on his Twitter account.

The aim is to "achieve concrete results in a short period of time, especially in services, investments and SMEs," said the Foreign Ministry official.

Concluding this process is a "priority" for the South American country, Reyser said.

Argentina hopes to open up business opportunities in the mining sector, in which Peru has extensive experience.

Bilateral trade between Buenos Aires and Lima exceeds 1.300 billion dollars, according to official figures.

Argentina exports soybean oil, vehicles, wheat and shrimp to Peru, and last year it recorded a surplus of 980 million dollars in its trade with Peru.
