Argentina exports chilled beef to China for the first time

-

Argentina has completed its first shipment of chilled beef to China, after a new health protocol came into effect in early June that allows the entry of chilled beef cuts with and without bones into that country.

The Secretariat of Agroindustry reported this Monday (June 824.06.2019, 22) that the company Swift Argentina, SA, of the Minerva Foods group, was responsible for the export carried out on June XNUMX, consisting of a rib eye cut, chilled and vacuum packed, considered of high value within the Argentine industry.

«This fact represents a great opportunity for the Argentine industry and for trade between both countries, since it means entering a new segment of high value and high demand, such as the Chinese market., said the national secretary of Agroindustry, Luis Miguel Etchevehere, quoted in a statement.

In the past, meat trade with China only allowed frozen boneless cuts, and this will be the first of the chilled cuts thanks to the joint work between different state entities of both countries, said the Secretariat of Agribusiness, which is part of the Ministry of Production and Labor.

He added that the beef production was carried out in one of Swift Argentina, SA's plants in the province of Santa Fe (central-east), where meat destined for more than 40 countries is processed.
