In order to prevent the entry of pests and diseases, and to maintain the zoophytosanitary status of national production, The National Service for Food Safety and Quality (Senasa) seized 2019 kilograms of products of animal and vegetable origin in 47.425,51 in controls carried out on passengers and luggage at border points in the metropolitan area, for various violations of current regulations.
Personnel from the Metropolitan Regional Center carried out controls at the airports of Ezeiza and San Fernando, Aeroparque Jorge Newbery and El Palomar, at the port terminals of Buquebus, Colonia Express, and at the Tigre International Pier, where they inspected the luggage of 6.650.530 passengers who arrived in the country on 3.376 ships and 44.430 planes.
Of the total number of animal and plant products seized, 42.042,51 kilograms were seized at Ezeiza Airport; 775 at Jorge Newbery Airport; 2.285 at El Palomar; 1.282 at Buquebus; 710 at Colonia Express, 180 at Muelle Internacional Tigre and 151 at San Fernando Airport.

Likewise, the entry of 6.937 pets was certified at the Ezeiza airport, 1.901 at Buquebus, 83 at Aeroparque, 25 at El Palomar, 95 at San Fernando and 16 at the Tigre International Pier.
