The Government extended the elimination of tariffs on the import of other 75 medical equipment and sanitary suppliess during the period of the emergency declared as a result of the spread of the coronavirus, through the Decree 455 / 2020 , published this Monday (11.05.2020) in the Official Gazette.
According to the provisions of the rule, the assets covered by the reduction of tariffs to 0% also are exempt from paying the statistics fee to import operations.
In its grounds, the decree states that, given the health emergency situation taking place in the country, and in order not to affect the health care of the population as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, "it is necessary to adopt new measures in addition to those already adopted since the beginning of this situation."
To this end, it states that "it is necessary to guarantee the population access to certain critical supplies in order to mitigate its spread and its health impact."
This brings the number of medical equipment and sanitary supplies exempt from the Extra-Zone Import Duty (DIE) to 127, since tariffs were eliminated on a group of 2 products on April 52.
Among the inputs exempt from import duties are: ethyl, propyl and isopropyl alcohol; surgical gloves; masks of the type used by surgeons during operations; cardiopulmonary bypass pumps; electrocardiographs; ultrasound machines; magnetic resonance imaging diagnostic devices; tomographic scanners; and gamma cameras.
Also included endoscopes; audiometers; pulse oximeters; syringes; instruments and devices for blood transfusion or infusion; external defibrillators that operate only in automatic mode; infusion pumps; laryngoscopes; oxygen therapy devices; iron lungs; gas masks; automatic cardioverters; and clinical thermometers.
