Argentina will continue exporting lemons to Japan

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan (MAFF) sent a technical mission to cooperate with the National Service for Food Safety and Quality of Argentina (Senasa) in the phytosanitary inspection and to initiate the cold quarantine treatment for the export of fresh lemons to the Asian country.

During the days, the Japanese inspector met with Senasa officials at the Agency's headquarters to finalize details on the implementation of the export work plan.

According to the Senasa statement, the Japanese coach toured the province of Tucumán to Check the consolidation site of fruit, where joint inspections were carried out, and the initiation and consolidation of the merchandise.

Present at the event were the National Director of Plant Protection, Diego Quiroga; the Director of Phytosanitary Certification, Martín Delucis; the technicians Paula Mendy and Lisandro Millan, and the Japanese official Takashi Iseki.

This process will end with the Reception of lemon shipments in the Japanese capital by an official from the Argentine embassy, which will confirm entry to the destination with correct compliance with the established treatments.

 “The resumption of lemon exports to Japan – a market with extremely high demands in terms of health, quality and safety – demonstrates the responsibility, professionalism and commitment of each of the links that make up the export chain,” said Delucis.

Argentina, important producer 

It is worth noting that Argentina is one of the most important producers, processors and exporters of lemon in the world.

He is responsible for the 56,15% of lemon industrialization at global level and plays a central role in lemon juice and essential oil.
