The National Government has decided to close two investigations into alleged dumping, one related to microwave ovens from China and another to domestic dishwashers from China and Turkey. These decisions, corresponding to separate investigations, were published today (30.09.2024) in the Official Gazette through Resolutions 300/2024 y 960/2024 of the Ministry of Economy.
Research on the microwave ovens was requested by the companies Newsan SA, Radio Victoria Argentina SA and BGH SA., who reported the possible dumping in the import of "mechanical and digital microwave ovens, with or without grill, with a capacity equal to or less than 45 liters, except built-in ones", from ChinaThis investigation began in May 2024, with a call to interested parties to present evidence. Following the analysis by the National Commission for Foreign Trade (CNCE), it was determined that national production had not suffered significant damage as a result of imports of these products, so a causal relationship between imports and damage was not established. Consequently, the Ministry of Economy decided to close the investigation without imposing measures.
For its part, the company DREAN SA (formerly José M. Alladio e Hijos SA) requested an examination for alleged dumping in the import of «dishwashing machines for domestic use" since China and Türkiye, classified under tariff item NCM 8422.11.00, due to the expiration of the antidumping measures imposed by former MP Resolution No. 173/2018. This request was submitted in January 2023. Following the analysis carried out by the Unfair Competition Directorate and the National Foreign Trade Commission, which assessed both dumping and damage to the national industry, the Ministry of Economy decided to close the investigation.
Both decisions reflect the conclusion that the imports did not cause significant damage to the local industry, which allowed Argentina to close the aforementioned investigations without implementing protectionist measures for unfair trade practices.
