Argentina closes December with a trade surplus of USD 1.892 billion

The trade balance for December 2025 recorded a surplus of $1.892 millionshowing a positive performance in foreign trade, as reported this Tuesday (20.01.2026) by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec).

The exports Sales for the month totaled USD 7.448 billion, a 5,7% increase compared to December 2024. Sales volume grew 6,2%, while prices fell 0,5%. Among the items, Primary products (PP) They drove growth (+39,3% in value and +43% in quantity). Industrial Manufactures (MOI) fell in value (-5,7%) despite increased sales (+7,4%), MOA remained stable, and Fuels and Energy (CyE) showed almost no change in value (+0,6%), with prices falling (-10,7%) and quantity rising (+12,7%).
Regarding the destinationsExports grew to China (+125,3%), driven by PP, and to the United States (+48,5%), boosted by MOI and CyE. In contrast, they fell to Brazil (-20,9%), the European Union (-13,7%) and India (-7,3%).

Total exports reached USD 87.077 billion (+9,3% year-on-year), driven by manufactured goods, while imports totaled USD 75.791 billion (+24,7%), with demand for capital goods and their components standing out. By destination, Brazil was the main recipient (14,7% of the total), followed by China (11,3%) and the US (9,6%).
