La Argentina seeks to add new dairy plants that export their production to Malaysia and open that market to beef shipments. To this end, a visit by representatives of the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) of Malaysia concluded on Monday (11.11.2019), which audited the safety control system of the National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (Senasa) with the aim of enabling new dairy production establishments and verifying on site how beef slaughterhouses work.
At Senasa headquarters in Buenos Aires, authorities headed by President Ricardo Negri received an advance notice of the results of the audit carried out between November 4 and 11 by the Malaysian delegation made up of Nahariah Binti Abdullah, Mariani Binti Hashim, Mohd Arif Bin Sapee and Naim Sidqi Bin Mustaffa.
The auditors of the Asian country announced that "Argentina meets the requirements demanded by Malaysia both in terms of dairy and beef production”, explained Gustavo Soto Kruse, director of Safety and Quality of Animal Products of Senasa. The Argentine official also added that "eIn the case of beef, they must evaluate more documentation and information to move forward, then agree with Senasa on the protocol that allows the export of the product.”
Accompanied by Senasa professionals, The Malaysian delegation visited four dairy processing plants and one beef processing plant located in the provinces of Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Santa Fe. They also visited the Senasa International National Reference Laboratory located in Martínez., where they learned about the facilities and procedures used in food safety control analyses.
Regarding the verification of the control system in meat processing, the auditors "They saw the inspection cycle that Senasa applies throughout the bovine chain: in the laboratory, in slaughterhouses, certification and waste control," said Soto Kruse.
Malaysian health authorities have yet to submit their final report. on audited dairy establishments in order to add them to the list of plants authorized to export their production. Both countries will continue to advance in the coming months in the opening of beef and offal exports, taking into account the Muslim Halal rite.
