Argentina to announce December tax collection

-

La The Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP) will report the tax collection figures for December on Monday, which would have been around 140.000 billion pesos, thanks to the good performance of taxes linked to domestic consumption and Social Security, among others.

Last Wednesday, the head of the organization, Alberto Abad, although he refrained from revealing the amount of the collection, hinted that "it will be 30 percent" above the December 2014 mark, which was around 108.600 billion pesos.

If this projection is met, the total revenue for the twelve months of 2015 would be over 532.000 billion pesos.

In a statement to the press, Abad said that the AFIP will focus on making its management more efficient by focusing on the movements of the major economic sectors.

For this year, President Mauricio Macri plans to present a series of reforms to the tax system to Congress in March, which include the elimination of VAT on basic basket products for the most needy sectors, as well as an update to the scheme under which Income Tax is paid.

Also A modification of the tax on biodiesel is planned which the Minister of Energy and Mining, Juan José Aranguren, is working on.

The changes in tax matters actually began as soon as the new administration took office, with the Elimination of Export Duties that taxed sales of industrial products, wheat, corn, sunflowers, and other products

To this modification we must add the extension of the Refund to consumers of an amount equivalent to 5 percentage points of VAT on purchases of less than 1.000 pesos made with debit cards, which will now also include fuel.

Even last week, The Government has abolished money laundering which had been in force since 2013 and was extended nine times, which contemplated the entry of foreign currency in exchange for the purchase of CEDIN and BAADE bonds.

This money laundering mechanism was "unacceptable from a technical, political and moral point of view," said the Minister of Finance, Alfonso Prat Gay.

The program was renewed nine times every three months during the administration of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and recorded revenues totaling US$2.595 billion.

Abad considered that this whitewashing "had little success, if not to say that it failed" because "despite these extraordinary benefits" and the nine extensions arranged since 2013, it was far from reaching the 5.000 billion dollars that the previous administration expected to collect.

Abad denied that the government is considering any similar regime. The head of the AFIP said that in the future "capital will come because investment expectations are better."
