Wheat exports reached a record volume of 12.620.718 tonnes in the 2016/17 commercial cycle, exceeding by 10,7% the previous record of 11.402.665 tonnes reached during the 2011/12 period.
According to the survey carried out by the Undersecretariat of Agricultural Markets of the Ministry of Agroindustry of the Nation on November 30, 2017, once the 2016/17 commercial cycle (December-November) was concluded, the quantity and diversity of the 47 destinations reached for said exports.
The National Directorate of Agricultural Estimates of the Undersecretariat of Agriculture, highlighted that these export values confirm the production estimated by the Ministry for the 16/17 campaign of 18.390.000 tons, and indicated that these values may be exceeded in the 2017/2018 campaign.
In addition to Brazil, which as a traditional buyer of our cereal concentrated more than 40% of the total exported, stands out Asian destinations such as Vietnam, Thailand and Bangladesh; and African destinations such as Algeria, Egypt and Morocco.; which imported significant volumes.
