In a panel on an overview of the "Argentina-China trade relationship, a long-term strategic relationship", moderated by the new Minister of Agriculture, Luis Etchevehere, the Chinese ambassador spoke in his language.

He said that "in fact, Agriculture is one of the most strategic sectors of Chinese-Argentine cooperation. and said that "as an ambassador I hope that Chinese consumers, like me, will be lucky enough to try Argentine meat, wine and fruit."

«In my opinion, in the next stage China and Argentina should focus on how to achieve improved, omnidirectional agricultural cooperation»

On the other hand, he stressed that "China is the irreplaceable and unique world market because it has the largest and fastest growing middle class in the world, which offers enormous potential for consumption."

He also pointed out that "the economy of China and Argentina, especially in the agricultural sector, is promising." and that "some Argentine businessmen and farmers have not been able to keep up with Chinese agricultural demands"

He called for achieving the "design of activities and planning of long-term agricultural cooperation between Argentina and China; the construction of the agricultural belt and route between Argentina and China must be explored in order to create a common space for collaboration between the Asian country, Argentina and Mercosur."

He said that for the first time this year, China sent an official delegation to visit the Palermo exhibition.

Xiaoli then stressed that "both China and Argentina approach agricultural cooperation from a long-term strategic vision."Guelar, Argentine ambassador to China, explained that "Argentina is part of a region per se that I call the ABC, with Brazil and Chile, especially for China."

"ABC is the largest supplier of foreign food to China, approximately 27 to 28% of all food that China buys from the world comes from ABC," the diplomat added.

Etchevehere told NA that "in the last year alone we have signed seven health protocols with China, in 2018 and so far in 2019, we have already signed two, including for example pork, cherries, blueberries, honey, all products that require a lot of labor, which we know are highly valued by the Chinese consumer."

He said that "71% of Argentine beef exports are going to China" "This is a consequence of this relationship of trust that we will continue to work to maintain and deepen."
