Tax collection in March reached 137.762 billion pesos and grew 30,7 percent compared to the same month in 2015, AFIP chief Alberto Abad reported today.
The official considered it a "very good number", recalling that in that month the tax reductions such as the elimination of withholdings and the increase in the minimum taxable amount of income taxes came into full effect.
Abad also highlighted that the agency paid 2.500 billion pesos in refunds during March, compared to 99 million that had been paid in the same month of the previous year.
March revenues showed significant signs of recovery, specifically in foreign trade revenues, bank debits and credits, and VAT.
In the first quarter of the year, tax revenues totaled 435.219,8 million pesos, representing 32,1% more than in the same period of the previous year.
Abad reported that the agency has started an induction and facilitation campaign by sending taxpayers explanations on the declaration of personal assets and profits, in order to regularize the situation of 730 thousand cases that did not file it last year for the 2014 fiscal year.
VAT revenues reached 45.859 billion pesos with a year-on-year increase of 35,3% and of that total, the DGI tax, which has to do with domestic consumption, had a growth of 23,6% and the customs tax grew 65,1%.
Income tax collection, which is affected by the increase in the minimum tax rate, amounted to 24.454 billion, with a year-on-year increase of 16,8%.
The so-called check tax on bank debits and credits collected amounted to 9.892 billion pesos and grew by 43,9% compared to the previous year.
Foreign trade revenues reached 11.431 billion pesos, with a growth of 53,4% compared to March of last year.
In March, the AFIP received 4.827 billion pesos in import duties, which meant an increase of 72,8% compared to the same month of the previous year, while export revenues amounted to 6.604 billion, with an interannual variation of 41,7%.
Social security contributions amounted to 36.998 billion pesos, an interannual increase of 30,3%.
