By cross-checking information between AFIP's computer databases and reading the fiscal controllers' reports, it was found that 20% of hotels were evading part of their income, mainly from the catering services they provide.
The Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP) carried out a Tax and pension control operation in 48 hotels in the city of Buenos Aires. In total, 59 fines were issued, of which 23 could result in closures of 3 to 10 days, since the lack of fiscal controllers and the non-issuance of invoices was detected.
While from the cExchange of information between AFIP computer databases and reading the reports of the tax controllers, it was detected that 20% of the hotels would evade part of their income, mainly in the gastronomic services they provide.
For this reason, they opened 9 cases of audit for omission of income, which have the following origins:
- Differences between income declared in VAT vs. income declared in Income Tax
- Operating expenses exceed revenues
- Bank credits greater than the income declared in VAT.

From the point of job view, 232 workers were relieved of their duties, of which 22% presented inconsistencies, among which were detected:
- Without discharge
- Undeclared
- With difference in entry date
- With difference in remuneration
Others were also carved 36 violations due to formal inconsistencies. 39 AFIP officials participated in the operation.
