Mendoza: AFIP will inaugurate Integrated Control Area in Uspallata

The Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP) will inaugurate on June 18 a new Integrated Control Area in the city of Uspallata, a border crossing in the province of Mendoza through which nearly 300 thousand trucks pass each year.

According to official information, this is one of the most important works in terms of foreign trade between Argentina and Chile, which will allow, among other things, an improvement in the general conditions of transit and border control between both countries.

Improvements

The new checkpoint, which required an investment of nearly $130 million, includes new cabins access and exit of the complex, with paved entrance ramps and inspection bridges, in addition to Two scales for weighing loads, delimitation and organization of truck parking.

In the 20 hectares The site will have the capacity to park 500 trucks. In the first four months of 2018, there was a 5% increase in the transit of merchandise through this passage.

In addition, a special sector was set up for dangerous cargoes, security cameras throughout the property and four kennels for the use of dogs trained to detect narcotics and foreign currency.

With these improvements, it will be possible to go from the current two access routes (one for trucks coming from Argentina and another for those coming from Chile) to 10 tracks, six at the entrance gate and four at the exit gate.

Importance

This is a key border crossing for international trade to or from Chile and other countries, considering that trade between Argentina and the trans-Andean country alone grew from US$3000 to US$6.000 million between the first four months of last year and the same period in 2018.
