At the “General Mosconi” international airport in Comodoro Rivadavia, Chubut, the National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (Senasa) has an office area and a control scanner used to control products that are prohibited from entering Patagonia.
With the new facilities, they provide improvements in passenger service as well as in computer communications with the installation of electronic equipment for the formation of statistical data. In addition, it has a Autoclave for the treatment of confiscated products.
Senasa staff performs control and inspection functions on products entering the region through the organic product detector scanner, thus contributing to the strengthening of the Patagonian Quarantine System and the preservation of the zoophytosanitary status of the region.These works are part of the first stage of expansion and renovation of the General Mosconi International Airport, carried out in accordance with the LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certification, constituting the the country's first green airport.
It complies with guidelines for the construction of sustainable buildings, following a series of standards to minimize the environmental impact of the surroundings, using ecological materials, conscious use of drinking water and energy, and reducing the sending of waste to landfills, among other initiatives.
The thematic coordinator of Food Safety and Quality of the Patagonia Sur Regional Center, Eduardo Clapera, highlighted that “in the face of technological and structural changes, such as this case of the Comodoro Rivadavia Airport, the Organization has modern infrastructure such as a scanner, an autoclave, and computer equipment at the level of this type of undertaking, for an improvement in the sanitary control of the Patagonian region.”
