-

The National Customs Service of Chile has extended the period of “Temporary Admission” of Paraguayan transport trucks for up to 50 days, counting from their entry into Chilean territory, the Paraguayan Foreign Ministry reported.

Previously, Trucks from that country that entered Iquique to look for loads to transport to Paraguay had temporary admission authorization of up to 30 days, which in practice was insufficient. to meet the objective within the time frame established by the fluctuations that occur in the flow of cargo in the city's port.

"The delays resulted in difficulties for the normal development of trade between the two countries.", explained Paraguayan consul Alcides Albariño Barrios.

The Regional Customs Directorate of Antofagasta and Atacama, with the signature of its director Francisco Romero Papasideris, By authorizing “Temporary Admission” for up to 50 days, it specifies that the permit for Paraguayan trucks is valid for their entry into the city of Iquique and return to Paraguay., through border crossings located within regional jurisdiction."

The longer period granted is solely and exclusively for the transfer of goods from Paraguay to Iquique and vice versa, for cross-border movement that is verified by controls under the jurisdiction of the Antofagasta customs.
