Chinese customs take stricter measures against imported COVID-19 cases

China has taken specific measures to deal with the increasing risk caused by imported cases of COVID-19, the country's General Administration of Customs said on Monday (23.03.2020).

«The prevention of imported cases is a priority for our current work."l," said Song Yueqian, an official with the administration, at a press conference in Beijing.

By monitoring the evolution of the epidemic at both national and international levels, Customs have identified key risk countries and regions that require prevention and control at ports and will issue timely warning notices., Song said.

To guide national ports in preventing COVID-19 cases from abroad, China has revised and published the sixth edition of technical solutions for prevention and control in ports and the second version of the instructions.

Domestic ports have also adopted the use of an updated health declaration form to facilitate accurate collection of information, according to the official.

The administration has implemented stricter quarantine measures for international arrivals, including vehicle disinfection and port quarantine for travelers entering the country, Song said.

The Chinese mainland reported 39 new imported cases on Sunday, raising the total number of imported cases to 353.
