The General Directorate of Customs (DGA), dependent on AFIP, and the Argentine Naval Prefecture carried out an operation to detect the presence of narcotics on vessels in the port of San Lorenzo, Santa Fe.
AFIP-Aduana and Prefectura agents were deployed in the area of the San Lorenzo port complex (Santa Fe).
In particular, the San Lorenzo Customs and Investigations Department's "Fondeo Brigade" section acted, together with personnel from the Criminal Intelligence Department of the Argentine Naval Prefecture and the National Drug Trafficking Investigation Department of the Ministry of National Security, according to the agency's statement.
The surprise checks were carried out at the Muelle Vicentín Port Terminal, where, among other things, the Gertrude Oldendorff was boarded and thoroughly inspected using specialized control techniques and the support of anti-narcotics dogs. The ship was transporting soy flour bound for Brazil.
In addition, 19 trucks entering the aforementioned port terminal were inspected with a scanner.
The procedure was developed within the framework of the SEACOP Project, aimed at the international fight against maritime cocaine trafficking., with specialized personnel, dogs and non-intrusive control technology.
