A tourist was hiding two kilos of high-purity cocaine in her suitcase when she was intercepted by inspectors from the National Customs Service at the Chacalluta border complex between Chile and Peru. The drugs were meticulously hidden and were destined for Santiago.
Detection was achieved through the use of non-invasive technology that allowed establishing differences in the densities of the luggage structure. Because of this, lThe inspectors took apart the suitcase and found 10 packages inside containing a total of 2 kilos of high-purity cocaine.

After verifying the presence of drugs, Customs informed the Public Prosecutor's Office of the situation and the tourist, along with the drugs and evidence, were handed over to the police through a chain of custody.
The hearing to control the detention was held in Room No. 2 of the Guarantee Court of Arica. At the hearing, prosecutor Eika Romero Velásquez charged the Peruvian citizen with illicit drug trafficking. Magistrate Héctor Barraza Aguilera declared the detention legal, determining to leave the accused in preventive detention for the 90 days that was set as the investigation period.
