The General Directorate of Customs received on Tuesday (11.06.2019) the 38 high-end cars seized by order of the Economic Criminal Judge Gustavo Meirovich for safekeeping in a property of the General Administration of Ports (AGP).
These are vehicles seized in a case in which the magistrate is investigating, based on a complaint from the AFIP, the crimes of smuggling, illicit association and money laundering.
The irregularities were committed in the processing of advance import declarations (DJAIs) between 2012 and 2015.
This morning, between 8 and 11 a.m., the cars were transported by security forces to an indoor storage facility at the port of Buenos Aires, where they will remain while the legal case progresses.
In this process, some 30 defendants are already in a position to face oral proceedings and the AFIP has requested that approximately another 50 follow the same path.
In this case, the Agency provided various data requested by the Court in order to be able to carry out both these prosecutions and other measures to determine the "route" of the money and the assets of the accused.
It should be noted that the procedure was carried out jointly with the AGP and the National Gendarmerie.
