A total of 15 regional customs offices under the General Administration of Customs of China signed a memorandum of cooperation in the southwestern municipality of Chongqing on Sunday (14.10.2019) to support the construction of the New International Land and Sea Trade Corridor.
The new corridor is a trade and logistics route jointly built by China's western provincial-level regions and Singapore under the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Strategic Connectivity Demonstration Initiative. Chongqing is the operating hub for the corridor.
According to the memorandum, thes 15 customs will make joint efforts to facilitate clearance, promote the development of industry along the corridor, improve supervision and attack smuggling.
"ANDThe memorandum seeks to strengthen cooperation between regional customs and improve interregional clearance services, in order to better support the construction of the new corridor., said Sun Wenkang, an official in charge of customs clearance at the General Administration of Customs of China.
Rail and sea transportation and cross-border road and rail logistics lines along the corridor began normal operations at the end of September, connecting 190 ports in 90 countries and regions around the world, including Singapore, Japan, Australia and Germany.
